Day 1

Guided tour of the greenhouse and urban farm + talk on sustainable agriculture and farm-to-table production at De Kas Restaurant & Greenhouse Farm.

Day 2

A combined visit to Aalsmeer Flower Auction and the Boerma Instituut offers floristry and agriculture students a rich, industry-based learning experience. At the Flower Auction, students explore the world's largest flower marketplace, gaining insight into global trade logistics, digital auctioning via the Floriday platform, and the cooperative model supporting growers. The visit provides a unique perspective on supply chains and innovation in the floral sector. At Boerma Instituut, students participate in a hands-on Introductory Floral Design Workshop, where they learn Dutch floral techniques, design principles, and material care. This practical session enhances their technical and creative skills while reinforcing plant aesthetics and handling. Together, these visits bridge trade and design, offering a complete view of the floriculture industry.
Day 3

A Canal-side Herb Walk with Urban Herbology or a visit to Fruittuin van West offers agriculture and sustainability students a rich, hands-on introduction to urban ecology. The herb walk, led by Lynn Shore, teaches urban foraging, seasonal living, and practical herb use, encouraging self-healing and environmental awareness in city spaces. Alternatively, Fruittuin van West immerses students in circular, organic farming practices, showcasing composting, agroforestry, and biodynamic methods. Both experiences connect theoretical learning to real-world applications. They promote sustainability, biodiversity, and local food systems. Students gain insight into regenerative practices, plant care, and holistic land use. These visits also highlight how urban spaces can foster ecological literacy and resilience. Whether through foraging or farming, both activities inspire reconnection with nature. They're ideal for students exploring sustainable agriculture, herbalism, or environmental science.
