Day 1

Welcome to Chiang Mai! Upon arrival, we will board air conditioned minivans and depending on your arrival time into Chiang Mai can either head out for a local northern Thai style lunch, or have the opportunity for Chiang Mai city sightseeing tour where you will learn about the history of this beautiful city, visit a few important historical sights and hear stories about its foundings. We will check-in to the hotel this afternoon and enjoy some time by the pool before a local dinner and trip briefing, followed by some free time before bed.

Day 2

Kickstart your day with a visit to the Chiang Mai Cultural Centre, an institution dedicated to preserving and promoting the city’s historical and cultural significance. Discover exhibitions that chronicle the region's development from prehistory to modern times. Enjoy a local lunch and unwind at the hotel before exploring the vibrant Sunday market.

Day 3

Delve into Thailand's second-largest religion with a visit to the Chiang Mai Islamic Community Centre and Mosque. Engage with the Imam to learn about the pillars of Islam and its presence in Thailand. After a local lunch, visit the oldest Sikh temple in Chiang Mai, the Gurudwara, where a Guru will introduce you to the fundamentals of Sikhism and its influence on the city.

Day 4

Explore Chiang Mai's cultural diversity with a guided tour of China Town, highlighting significant industries and trade. Savor a Chinese-Thai lunch before visiting a Hindu temple. Learn about Hinduism's profound impact on Thai culture, from food and language to festivals and customs.

Day 5

Visit the ancient ruins of Wiang Kum Kam, once a thriving city abandoned over 700 years ago. A guided tour will bring the ruins to life, illustrating how past cultures have shaped modern Chiang Mai. Enjoy a traditional Khantoke dinner with music and dance performances that showcase the region's rich heritage.

Day 6

Begin with an introduction to Buddhism followed by a guided meditation class. Experience the tranquility and health benefits of meditation. In the afternoon, participate in a 'Monk Chat,' engaging in informal conversations with young Buddhist monks to learn about their daily lives and practices.

Day 7

Embark on a pilgrimage along the Monks Trail to Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, one of Chiang Mai’s most sacred temples. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the jungle and explore the temple at sunset. Spend the night in basic, comfortable accommodations, experiencing the serene mountain environment.

Day 8

Trek to a Hmong Hill Tribe village, learning about the Hmong ethnic group’s cultures and traditions. Spend the night in the village, enjoying authentic rural Thai culture through guided tours, traditional food, and games.

Day 9

Descend the mountain, stopping at a stunning waterfall and Huay Tung Tao Reservoir for lunch. Transfer to the 8Adventures basecamp and then to Huay Kup Kap, a Lahu Hill Tribe village, to learn about their unique cultures and enjoy a traditional BBQ dinner.

Day 10

Day 10: Whitewater Rafting and Forestry Monks

Experience the thrill of whitewater rafting before visiting a local temple home to Forestry Monks. Learn about their unique meditation practices and simple lifestyle. Depending on time, visit a Karen Hill Tribe village for a guided tour.

Day 11: Sustainable Living Practices

Engage in hands-on activities that promote sustainable living, such as building mud bricks, learning about rice planting and harvesting, and exploring the uses of native plants.

Day 12: Cycling, Kayaking, and Overnight Lake Stay

Cycle through rice paddies to Mae Ngat Dam, then kayak to remote floating bungalows on the lake. Enjoy an afternoon of swimming and reflecting on your experiences amidst the serene natural beauty.

Day 13: Return to Chiang Mai and Farewell

Depart the floating bungalows by boat and minivan, stopping by a local market for a final taste of Thai delicacies. Enjoy a farewell lunch before heading to Chiang Mai International Airport for your homebound flight.
