Berlin, a city that blends its historical past with its modern cosmopolitan present. The German capital has so much to offer, to so many people that it can often be hard to know where to start when you are planning a trip. I am thrilled to share with you my must-see sights, unforgettable experiences, and insider tips to help you transform your Berlin trip into an unforgettable adventure.

My must-see sights:

  • Museum Island (Museum Insel): Begin your exploration with a visit to Museum Island, home to Berlin’s major museums. The Pergamon Museum and the Neues Museum, housing the iconic Nefertiti bust, are treasures waiting to be uncovered.

  • Berlin Cathedral: Ascend to the top of the Berlin Cathedral for an awe-inspiring view of the city. It’s a breath-taking perspective that will forever linger in your memory.

  • Tailored Walking Tours: For a deeper understanding of Berlin’s rich tapestry, consider a tailored walking tour. Whether you’re fascinated by history, art, or something else, these tours offer unique insights.

  • DDR Museum: Cross the river to the DDR Museum, a poignant glimpse into life behind the Iron Curtain. As someone who grew up in Eastern Europe, this museum held a special place in my heart, and I believe it’s a vital experience to share with future generations.

My unforgettable moment: Embracing Kreuzberg

  • Cultural Diversity: Kreuzberg‘s rich Turkish culture makes it an ideal spot for an authentic lunch or dinner experience. Immerse yourself in the vibrant, multicultural atmosphere that defines this neighbourhood.

  • Graffiti and Street Art: Berlin is a canvas for street artists, and I highly recommend taking a street art tour. It’s a chance to witness the city’s creative soul, one spray can at a time.

  • Markthalle Neun: Step back in time at Markthalle Neun, a historic market hall over 120 years old. Today, it’s a bustling hub of street food vendors and independent businesses offering quality local produce. A delightful spot for lunch, open Monday through Saturday.

  • Tiergarten Park: On warm, sunny days, join the locals in Tiergarten park. It’s a tranquil oasis where you can take a leisurely stroll or enjoy a peaceful picnic under the shade of majestic trees.

Tips & tricks for getting around:

  • Berlin Welcome Card: Don’t forget to secure a Berlin Welcome Card. It covers public transport throughout the city and provides enticing discounts on attractions. Booking it in advance can also cover your airport transfers.

  • Exploring Beyond Berlin: Berlin’s superb rail connections make day trips an excellent choice. Consider visiting nearby destinations like Potsdam, Leipzig, or Dessau for a change of scenery and a deeper dive into history and culture.
